CYANOTYPES

Learn about the simple chemistry involved in one of the earliest 19th century photographic processes, to make beautiful rich blue prints – without a camera! Workshop is led by Artist Marion Archibald from the Old Printing Works. A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, Marion incorporates photography, print-making, found objects, artist books and small-scale sculptures into her practice.

INTRO TO BOOK MAKING

Not just for photographers – this workshop is an introduction to some of the basic techniques of book making, including folding, cutting and making hand-sewn pamphlets. Workshop is led by artist Marion Archibald from the Old Printing Works. A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, Marion incorporates photography, print-making, found objects, artist books and small-scale sculptures into her practice.

PINHOLES

Join artist Chris Bird for a workshop on pinhole photography – a long known way to make photographic images without the use of a lens. Chris Bird, a member of the Bird House Collective, is an artist who builds and adapts cameras to make pinhole images on both film and paper, and is interested in how the simple process condenses light, time, perspective and memory.

PHOTOGRAVURE

As part of FLOW Photofest – the Highland Print Studio in Inverness is offering a two-day Polymer Photogravure class – no previous experience necessary. Create unique hand-printed photographs using Adobe Photoshop, polymer plates and an etching press. To learn more on this technique read about their Printmaking Techniques

BEGINNERS BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY

Everything you need to know to get started in black and white analogue photography – in one day! Learn to shoot, develop and print 35mm black and white film at the Inverness Darkroom. Cameras are available for use – or bring your own. With the Inverness Darkroom’s own Rachel Fermi.
